Fantastic Proximity Effect/Radio Sound

This mic is so different. So outstanding. It's like none of my other 50 or more mics, (lost count). Just a bit obsessed.
If you want a radio sound then just get real close to the mic with a foam cover and believe it or not talk straight into it. I know, it's not what you are supposed to do but when you talk straight in, it responds beautifully.
Such a round, soft, soothing warm tone with just the right amount of high end.
Love the light indicator, it's just cool.
This mic is more "Radio" than any other mic I have ever heard or used, including the SM7B, which I have. I also have a TLM103. I like this much better on my voice. Add some eq and compression from a dbx 286s and you are going to be in heaven.
This is for spoken word all the way. Wouldn't use it on anything else. A+ Rode.
Why don't people talk more about this mic. It's baffling. Almost got the EV RE20. I am sure that is a great mic. I have no doubt but I am soooo glad I took a chance in getting this instead. My search for a "Broadcast" tone is over. It's been tragically lost in the shuffle of all the other Broadcast mics. Don't let this one get away though. Learn just how much compression you need and EQ in a nice low end and enjoy!

My secret weapon

This mic is my secret weapon. I always wanted an end address condenser mic. And I found it. Plus it's rode so you know it's quality and built like a tank

Absolutely love this mic. Sounds incredible. Yes it's pricey, but it's worth it if you want something different.

For once, a solid natural voice mic without EQ

Bought the Rode Broadcaster for voice over narration work. Out if the box, with no EQ or processing, this mic clearly and faithfully reproduced the sound and nuances of my baritone voice!! I was sold on Rode! I also purchase the Rode NTK Tube mic for voice over narration and experienced the exact same thing! These mics hit my sweet spot!! I did notice that the Broadcaster mic is more sensitive to plosives and 'essing'- which went away with the addition of an external pop filter and modified delivery for an end address mic. Depending upon project types, I expand the bottom end with EQ in post production. This mic is a permanent feature in booth 'A' for quick VO projects. In comparison, my Rode NTK-tube mic is a fixture in booth 'C' for recording lengthy projects such as audiobooks, narrations, video sound tracks and e-learning. Both mics would be very nice for male some vocals- but you might want to check the recommended SPL's to insure the mic would be right for you.
